Without contradicting the sound, they even infuse black metal elements into some songs on this album, rendering it diverse and interesting. For a debut album, their songwriting shines, a result of the members' experience—one is in Dysgnostic and others are in undisclosed Danish bands. As an interpretation of a style generally considered complex or inscrutable, "Passage to a Neutron Star" is surprisingly fluid, entertaining, and memorable. Against the backdrop of harrowing, plaintive music are the hollow echoes of an aggrieved, possessed-sounding woman, adding more malice to the music than anything possibly contrived. Over here is something dark, unseemly, insidious if only by being so naturally real and relatable. The intriguing doom-laden black metal music throbs and twists with a firm grip of the atmosphere pressing down on the listener like a hand to the throat. Muerto's disarmingly direct delivery, masterful juggling of various emotions in an aura of suffocating darkness, and their refreshing rawness in a time of overly processed music make them a band worthy of your attention.
