Both bands have come up with brand new songs for this satisfying split release touching almost 40 minutes, with the music sounding like an extension of their established styles. Replicant are on fire after releasing two staggering full length albums and their new songs sound phenomenal here with extra nasty grooves, experimentation with female guest vocals, and they have even done a cover of Cocteau Twins. It's top class stuff as expected from them. Elitist follow up on their well-received debut full length with four songs of incisive, carefully constructed, and perfectly executed material that should make fans of this kind of music sit up and take notice. Their latest contribution bodes well for the Danish death metal scene which has already seen albums this year on the same label from Carbon Tomb and Dysgnostic, with whom they share a member. This superbly paired split from two of the best bands in the style should be a no-brainer for those into forward-thinking death metal music. Their songs undergo various phases, from vigorous pounding parts to atmospheric passages, almost always culminating in an epic, memorable fashion. With a sound that is more cohesive while also being pliant, they are no doubt able to achieve greater expression. One would be hard-pressed to find bands in the style playing music that is as diverse and multifaceted and yet scathing and intense as theirs. "Fetid Existence" is another resounding success which sees Resin Tomb carrying forward their sublime sound and expanding upon it. Genre: Dissonant death metal/grindcore For fans of: Vermin Womb, Wake, Replicant, Terra Builder, Norse, Michel Anoia Line up: Matt Budge: Vocals Perry Vedelago: Drums Brendan Auld: Guitar Matt Gordon: Guitar Mitch Long: Bass Artwork by Mitchell Nolte (Carnophage) Official release date: January 15th, 2027
